MORE ABOUT PUNKALIVE
Punkalive Ltd.
Punkalive Ltd. was established in 2009. The company manufactures environmentally friendly products based on a “Natural Furniture” theme. Punkaharjun Puutaito Oy, an important Punkalive shareholder specialising in high-quality woodwork, has been active in Punkaharju for 20 years.
The new Punkalive furniture collection was introduced at the Milan Furniture Fair in the Zona Tortona area as part of the Sparkling – Ecologically Correct event in April 2009. The Punkalive product concept is based on the aesthetics of free shapes.
The freedom of design is possible thanks to the patented technology. Punkalive products are ecological and follow the principles of sustainable development.
Punkalive Design
Possibilities generated by a new manufacturing technology are applied in Punkalive’s product design. The product solutions are the result of the manufacturing technology and the desired shape. The products emphasise individuality and product-specific structural strength. Despite the use of a manufacturing technology, the handicraft in our finished products and their living surface is visible.
As a general rule, the furniture is made solely of Kerto® wood. Exceptions include the Jotos series metallic legs and the covers and bases of our storage furniture, made of birch plywood. The structurally strong Kerto® laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is manufactured at the Finnforest factory close to our Punkaharju production unit. The raw material is collected within approximately 100 kilometres from the factory.
The ecological activity of Punkalive is impressive on an international scale – both visually and functionally. It successfully combines the possibilities of the present with the responsibility for the future.
Taking care
Punkalive products bring users close to the natural landscapes of the North. Both the design and production methods emphasise the principles of ecology and sustainable production.
Punkalive products are manufactured utilising wood collected within 100 km radius of the Punkaharju production factory. Local resources are utilised with minimal environmental footprint, which adds value to Punkalive’s respect towards natural living and local heritage. The sawdust from furniture component production is reused. The local power company transmits the heat from Finnforest’s Kerto® production mill to town’s heating system. This environmentally friendly source of recycled energy brings substantial savings to the community – as well as to the surrounding nature.
Punkalive provides unique opportunities to fully enjoy the present on tomorrow’s terms.
