About Rodic Davidson Architects
MORE ABOUT RODIC DAVIDSON ARCHITECTS
Profile
The architectural practice was established in August 2006 by Ben Davidson RIBA. The practice has since undertaken architectural work across a variety of sectors – with particular expertise on high quality central London residential refurbishment and conservation projects.
The work of the practice is underpinned by a pragmatic, restrained, contemporary design approach. Our practice philosophy is driven by this belief. We seek to understand the brief and, by so doing, to develop an architectural design response of the highest quality. We work for design-led property developers and owner-occupiers alike. We place equally high importance on budget and programme control, ‘value add’, and effective project management. We have excellent relationships with planners, consultants, contractors and sub-contractors in the sectors in which we specialise.
The practice undertakes commissions for new-build homes, apartments and refurbishment/ remodelling. The majority of our projects are located in the London boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham and Camden. We regularly work with listed buildings and are experts in obtaining the required listed building consents.
Biography
Ben Davidson, BA(Hons), Dip Arch, RIBA - Director
Ben started his career working for BV Doshi in Ahmedabad, India. Upon his return to the UK, he joined a design-led architectural practice with responsibility for projects divided equally between high quality residential projects and commercial clients. In 2003, Ben joined Marylebone Warwick Balfour PLC, the (then) owner of Liberty of London and the Hotel du Vin boutique hotel brand. He worked extensively on numerous residential, retail and hotel projects both in the UK and overseas including a major proposal for the Grade 2* Listed Liberty of London along with overseas developments in France and South Africa.
Ben has significant experience in conducting planning and development negotiations with prominent London Estates and stakeholders. He has worked extensively with Listed Buildings; particularly within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Camden and Hammersmith and Fulham. Ben believes passionately that a rigorous commercial understanding should underpin every project and that good design can contribute real value.
Ben has been a Visiting Lecturer in Architecture and has also taught at the University of the Arts, London. Ben founded bdAr Architects and Designers (later to become Rodic Davidson Architects) in September 2006 and is a member of the Royal Institution of British Architects.
Siniša Rodić, AA Dipl(Hons) RIBA - Director
Siniša was awarded an honours diploma at the Architectural Association School of Architecture and was nominated for the RIBA Presidents Medal before joining a London-based architectural practice in 2001 where he was a project architect on a diverse range of projects that were built and published internationally. Between 2001 and 2007, Siniša combined private practice with his role as senior lecturer at the School of Architecture & the Visual Arts at The University of East London where he taught Architectural Design in the diploma studio as well as Urban Design on the MA course.
Siniša joined bdAr in 2007 as Head of Design and has since been responsible for a variety of projects spanning from prestigious central London refurbishments to international master planning proposals. Siniša’s design approach is to attempt to extract opportunities from the brief: whether this be from the site, a particular client demand, the budget or even the regulatory framework. The intention is to produce the most relevant project-specific design and not to simply capitalise upon a ‘house style’. By overseeing a diverse range of projects, Siniša’s role has helped the practice to sustain a culture of cross-fertilization between various sectors and scales and to promote innovation and the highest quality of design.
Siniša is fluent in English, Serbo-Croat and Spanish. He is a UK Registered Architect and a member of the Royal Institution of British Architects.
