Before starting a new construction project we always look at the specific urban situation. The surrounding urban context guides us to the best possible architectural solution, which can be full of contrasts: either subtle, immense or light and delicate. While creating our buildings we think of them as a whole as well as of little details like door handles, since only an interaction of exterior and inner structure, details and the entity enables a building or an ensemble to fit into the surrounding. In a world which tends to become more and more ephemeral only a sustainable architecture can fulfil the permanently changing specific requirements. If done esthetical, understandable and user friendly it can age gracefully and contribute to an authentic environment worth living in. Having this in mind we lay emphasis on innovative and precise solutions at each step of the planning and construction process.” Sergei Tchoban, Ekkehard Voss
The firm came into existence following a collaboration between architects Herbert Sprotte and Peter Neve in 1931, who, interrupted only by World War II, successfully established themselves in Hamburg. Ever since, the company has continuously been developing and creating contemporary architecture. Architects Alf M. Prasch, Wolfgang Nietz, and Peter Sigl joined the office between 1970 and 1974, putting a new generation at the core of the company. During the 1980s the firm undertook its first international construction projects in the Middle East, as well as working on numerous regional projects. Additional branches were opened in Berlin and Dresden in 1993, and in 1995 architects Sergei Tchoban and Ekkehard Voss joined the firm as new partners, becoming the company’s leading partners in 2015. Since 2009 the company’s structure has been strengthened by the addition of associate partners and project partners. From 2017 on the office name changed to Tchoban Voss Architekten.
Currently we have construction projects all over Germany as well as in Russia. We plan, develop and build for both regional and international clients, in public and private sector. In addition to residential and business buildings, we focus on planning hotels, trade facilities, office complexes, lesure time facilities, schools, educational and social facilities, as well as reconstructions and revitalizations of historical monuments. We have been providing all kinds of architectural services − from interior architecture to general planning − ever since we went into business.
Some 140 highly qualified employees from all areas of architecture form a strong backbone of our competence. Our company’s internal services include construction of models, graphics design and comprehensive 3D visualisation. When needed, we also avail ourselves of an international network of competent engineers and specialist planners. We face the changes of our times with curiosity. We keep up to date through ongoing education and innovative technology. Tchoban Voss Architekten are members of the Association of German Architects (BDA), the chambers of architects in the German states of Hamburg, Berlin and Saxony, the European Architects Network (EAN) and the IDeA network.
