Milan Design Week, arguably the world’s most important, most anticipated and most respected international design and architecture festival, is back! It may be a couple of months later than planned, but in some ways, it seems like only yesterday we were back in the fair city with the travelling circus of new product releases, art exhibitions and architectural installations that was the special edition, supersalone. Much has changed in the world over the last few years – even in the last few months – but the biggest brands, designers and studios in the A&D world have changed with it. Featuring new collections from design giants like Stefan Diez and Barber Osgerby, a 30m-long curtain wall from Douglas Mandry and a Live Talk programme with top international talent such as Carlo Ratti, CMP Design and Design Emergency, once you enter, you won’t want to leave. Temporarily transformed for Milan Design Week, the historic location will become home to intriguing exhibitions, installations and performances on the theme of luxury and sustainability, exploring both the current and future needs of society. Zeitraum's new works featured at the event include the AD ALL collection of wooden accessories by Mathias Hahn and tables and armchairs by Formstelle, while four sculptural islands await visitors in the Ponds of Colour installation of well-crafted furnishings. The centrally-located Offcut Bar, meanwhile, which features chairs from Zeitraum, will become a meeting point where the exhibition's various trends, and its visitors, can come together. Find out more | | Douglas Mandry's Art Curtain | | Swiss artist Douglas Mandry’s 30-metre-long Art Curtain will be exhibited as part of the inspiring and thought-provoking decor at the DAAily bar in Milan, introducing visitors to his Monuments project – a powerful document on climate change. The project collects and prints Swiss glacier blankets with 80-year old alpine images, merging the past with the physical reality of the present, and creates photograms by melting ice blocks from the same glaciers. At Milan Design Week 2022, the Ritz Paris’ in-house floral designer, titled ‘Lady of the Flowers’, will be handed the DAAily bar keys to let her creative mind go wild, arranging an enchanting, immersive floral installation to welcome visitors to the bar with a natural world in full bloom.
