Flame.MGX – Pendant Lamp
Suspended lights from .MGX by Materialise, Designed by Bathsheba Grossman
Product description
Concept
The origin of the Flame.MGX lies in a square block of clay. Four corners were twisted clockwise, while the four other corners were twisted counter clockwise. From this sculpture, a lampshade based on translucency was produced, with the interior volume opened up entirely towards light and perception. The symmetry of this design is rather uncommon: rotating clockwise as viewed from above, counter clockwise as viewed from below, meaning that reflecting this design in a mirror has the same effect as turning it upside down.
