Solar Tree 2nd Generation
Street lights from Artemide Architectural, Designed by Ross Lovegrove
Product description
The Solar Tree outdoor light combines LED lighting technology and photovoltaic solar technology to create a unique, innovative design. Organically curved, green steel tubes rise into the sky like “blades of grass”. They have solar cells as “foliage” combined with modern LED technology. During the day, the Solar Tree stores solar energy in order to radiate this darkness again when there is light. The solar cells built into the “leaves” power batteries that are invisibly integrated into the “blades of grass” of the lamp. The Solar Tree works without an additional energy supply, but can be connected to the public power grid. When fully charged, autonomous operation of up to 7-10 days is possible. If the batteries are discharged, the light's power supply is guaranteed via the mains. This ensures uninterrupted operation even in persistently bad weather conditions, reduced solar radiation, etc. ensured. The Solar Tree, with its combined power supply via solar batteries and mains connection, offers the greatest possible energy saving potential and outstanding functionality. It is intended to combine artistic, cultural and social requirements with the aspect of environmental protection and to show new perspectives in urban lighting. The Solar Tree 2nd Generation opens up to IoT interaction to create new scenarios and unexpected perspectives for future smart cities.
