The object holds its strength from the tension between the base and shell element. The straight angles of the base set themselves apart from the platonic oval of the shell; the warm walnut wood contrasts with the solemn black leather. There is no ‘bad angle or side’ to this piece – the detailing and design is continuous from front to back and top to underside. The base is made of oiled solid European walnut. This particular walnut is known for its superior quality and for aging well, that is gaining a richer and fuller color palette, rather than fading out. The intricate upholstery work consisting of several layers of different fillers and strings allows for a comfortable sitting experience, yet a clean flawless covering of the platonic oval. The thick leather will hold a lifetime under normal use.
