The FLORES collection by Danish artist Signe Kejlbo is the perfect way to add a splash of colour and bring life to any home. The main inspiration behind the FLORES collection is the tulip flower. Signe is fascinated by its course and details, shapes and the incredible compositions of their surfaces. She is especially drawn by the history and symbolism that lies behind the tulip flower:
The Turkish people who originally bred the flower considered it a symbol of paradise on earth, making it part of many religious and secular poems and pieces of art.
The Ottoman empire planted the tulip bulbs to remind them of heaven and eternal life. The Dutch who popularized the flower, saw the tulip as a reminder of how short life can be.
Signe has prepared the style and expression of the FLORES collection with paper clips. To understand the structure and colour division of the different types of layers and types of tulips, she has cut the flower petals in paper and then collected them into flowers and processed them digitally.
