Charlottenborg-chair
Armchairs from Canemaker, Designed by Arne Jacobsen
Product description
Concept
The chair has been recreated following the original 1937 design. The distance from the seat to the floor has been increased to reflect the growth in stature we have experienced since 1937. The chair is hand crafted using solid rattan cane. The bindings and the soft seat are hand-woven of lazio ( a strong and very flexible natural flat fiber). When combined with a foam filled upholstered seat cushion, the result is the ultimate in seating comfort. Arne Jacobsen´s chair was originally named Cane-chair No. A.J. 237 and was first displayed at the "Spring Exhibition" in the Charlottenborg building in 1937. The Charlottenborg-chair is represented in several works about Danish art and in books about the many designs by Arne Jacobsen. The Charlottenborg-chair was one of Arne Jacobsen´s preferred chairs in his private home and, because of this fact, some of the original chairs survived to become the basis for its recreation.
