Cassina unveils Esosoft, the first project designed by architect Antonio Citterio

An exoskeleton with soft, welcoming cushions

Antonio Citterio makes his debut for Cassina with a sofa system designed for the living area able to compose a fluid and flexible domestic landscape.
Featuring the elegant and timeless design of its author, the Esosoft sofa has an aluminium exoskeleton that supports an organic-shaped shell that hosts a series of comfortable cushions.
Esosoft pays tribute to the designs of the great masters and, specifically, to furniture design based on the separation of the structural part from the cushioned interior.

An inviting shape

Esosoft merges past and future with shapes reminiscent of the casual sense of comfort typical of the 1960s, while drawing upon contemporary production techniques: thanks to the work of Cassina LAB, circular materials have been employed like a polyurethane foam, that contains a percentage of polyols deriving from biological sources, and recycled PET wadding for the cushions. In addition to the single seat cushion, the backrest cushions are also padded with recycled blown PET fibre.
“This product is the first step of a journey that will lead us to total circularity of products used in the furniture industry,” commented architect and designer Antonio Citterio.

Modular, functional

The Esosoft collection comprises eight modules that can be used as individual sofas or combined to form corner arrangements, ensuring formidable flexibility to reconfigure the living space as desired. Special attention has been paid to size allowing easy use in urban settings where spaces are generally smaller.
Available in a vast variety of sizes and shapes, with or without the bolster, cushions can be added individually or purchased in sets. Esosoft is completed with a bench, poufs and a series of coffee tables with different marble finishes or a selection of colours in fluted glass for the top.
