Concept
" I imagined air for the modeling of this collection. Its invisible form is random and creates product like sculpture born of coincidence." Tokujin Yoshioka.
A collection which evokes the research done in the last years by Tokujin Yoshioka on the interaction of the natural phenomena and laws with his creativity. In collaboration with Mutina, the much-acclaimed Japanese designer has created PHENOMENON, a ceramic project which is able to express the originality of the texture derived from nature not to mimic its aspect but to awaken the sensation it brings to us. PHENOMENON imbues the ceramic material with virtually microscopic substances and creates a visual effect that affords depth and spaciousness. It recalls a number of expressions of patterns found in nature, such as honeycombs, snow crystals, icicle formations and plant cells, thus bringing to mind our individual experiences of the natural world.
The porcelain stoneware tiles Rain A-B-C, Honeycomb A-B, Rock, Air, Wind e Hexagon of the series PHENOMENON are suitable for indoor walls, and represent the finest of modern-day Italian craftsmanship: each element is pressed individually, skillfully and accurately crafted by expert hands that have allowed us to obtain products that are 100% innovative. These innovative mosaics are so slim and light that the company has filed a patent application in order to protect the collection. The new large-size (80x80 and 40x80 cm) homogeneous porcelain stoneware slabs are the keystone of the collection derived from the industrial production. The extremely compact composition of PHENOMENON also makes it suitable both for the residential market and for large-scale projects, impermeable to all kinds of liquids, stains, chemical and bacterial agents, making all maintenance and cleaning operations exceptionally easy and effective and guaranteeing perfect hygiene.
Peculiarity of the new collection is the environmental respect. PHENOMENON is indeed realized reintegrating into the productive process the redundant clays, in the absence of glazes, of emission of toxic elements and finally of V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compounds).
