With Level, Uwe Fischer has developed a functional table in which a stand (substructure) is combined with a synthetic resin or powder-coated worktop. Using a quick-release system, its height can easily be adjusted by +/- 4 cm. In addition, simple screw connections make it simple to separate the table top and trestles quickly, so the table always stands where it is needed. "Compared to the existing collection, the work table is an experiment," explains Fischer, "somewhat atypical in its design language, but typical in its customisability and high-quality execution." Level has a signal function and breaks with the traditional status symbols of conventional office furnishings: You do not sit down passively at this table; it is a work table or meeting place.

Concept
Level, designed by Uwe Fischer, is a family of height-adjustable worktables that are quite unpretentiously committed to the idea of a workbench. This gave rise to a tool with “trestle-like substructures”. A highly functional item that adheres fully to the tradition of modernism and brings its functions clearly to the fore. Working while standing is becoming more and more popular “because it most closely corresponds to the fleetingness and speed that work involves,” says Fischer. The change becomes the actual constant. A quick meeting. Then the table top is lowered. Then it’s time for a snack. Here, too, we meet for an exchange, this time quite informally.
Where would you like to work, we asked Uwe Fischer. The Professor of Industrial Design at the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts replied: “In a place where it is possible to change inspiration and concentration.” Level is such a place. It combines steel and wood, and it connects people, but does not dictate how they should interact. And so the meeting table becomes a bistro table—and transforms itself back again.
Level System is the perfect choice for anyone looking for less conventional office space. The trestle substructure is adjustable in height (72-117 cm) and gives the table a workbench-like appearance. This ‘office meeting place’ is now available in a round version or as a long, individually configurable conference table with integrated cable duct.
