Concept
Seating element, back-rest and corner-rest. Trio comprises just these three simple elements, which offer an almost endless range of combinations — in just a few moves. Remove the corner-rest and you have a cool recamier. Take away the corner-rest and the backrest, and the result is a wonderfully spacious sofa-bed. Add a couple of stools and you have a comfortable reclining area, perfect for lolling around on a lazy Sunday. A laid-back seating ensemble for a cocktail party. Or an extra-long sofa, upon which even squabbling relatives can be kept a good distance apart. Everything fits together so well. Not by accident, of course, but by design. Trio’s basic building block is one metre long and one metre deep, and all the other elements conform to this. It is actually quite a simple building block system — but one which is incredibly soft and comfortable, thanks to the high-quality materials, elaborate workmanship and intelligent internal construction, which also includes a proper slatted frame. The welting is concealed internally, and this allows easy removal and cleaning of the seating elements, ensuring that Trio keeps its original good looks for as long as possible.
If you consider all of the options that Trio offers, it is genuinely hard to imagine a piece of furniture more suitable for our busy, bustling lives. It is even more remarkable that Trio actually has a predecessor. The eponymous grandfather of today’s seating system was designed in 1972 by the Swiss designer team Form AG. However, today’s Trio is far from being a retro model. We have intentionally kept some of the original features, such as the basic shape, the design and char- acteristic details such as the external double seam, but we have also made some changes. We have learned a lot over the years about sitting comfort, as
is evidenced by Trio’s altered seat heights and depths, for example. We have also developed completely new technologies, thanks to which we have been able to coat the undersides of the back- rests in such a way that they retain their shape reliably and elegantly, regardless of the material used. A top-quality, solid beech frame ensures a lifetime’s enjoyment for the owner.
