Product description
Simulating an opening in the wall with a view of the surrounding landscape, Daylight is composed of a porcelain relief, lit from the back by an LED panel. The motif LANDSCAPE shows a meditative image of gently undulating hills or sand dunes, the motif SKY is a photo-realistic cloudscape.
The traditional and classical Lithophane technique used in the wall lights, Sunmoon, Hoop-La and Daylight, was developed in the 19th century. The transmission of light through reliefs incorporated in 1-2 mm thin porcelain sheets produces images in seamless shadings of light and dark, thus allowing photorealistic motifs.
The standard suspension is made from white coated aluminum, where the sheet slips into the frame from the side, allowing you to see the edge of the fine porcelain while letting out a small strip of light. In a built-in variation the light can be integrated directly into the wall.
Type: wall light
Material: biscuit porcelain
Frame: white coated aluminum
Size: 550×200×25 mm
Illuminant: LED flex band 12 V, 13,5 W, 3000 K

An old technique reborn
cordula kafka–light & porcelain ffers various versions of large porcelain pictures, manufactured in the classical lithophany-technique dating from the 19th century.
The transmission of light through reliefs incorporated in 2 mm thick porcelain sheets produces images in seamless shadings of light and dark, thus allowing photorealistic motifs.
C.K. has re ned the classical lithophany in size and subject and combined it with the process of manufacturing large porcelain sheets as used for technical porcelain. This allows to produce porcelain images up to 40 x 45 cm and 30 x 55 cm in size.
Thanks to the LED technique it is possible to illuminate the complete porcelain surface, evenly from the back. The standard suspension is made from white coated aluminum. The sheet slips into the frame from the side, allowing you to see the edge of the ne porcelain while letting out a small strip of light.
A built-in variation is available, as can be seen in the picture of DAYLIGHT – LANDSCAPE. An example with colored LED light is demonstrated by the motive HOOP-LA.
Individual and bespoke solutions, sizes and motifs are available on demand.
The narrow DAYLIGHT light band simulates an opening in the wall with a view over the surrounding landscape. We o er two di erent lithophane motifs for the porcelain sheets:
The SKY motif plunges you into a photo-realistic cloudscape. But this is no photographic slide, instead it is the lithophane technique that perfectly reproduces the various shades of grey.
LANDSCAPE is a meditative image of gently undulating hills or sand dunes. Two differing motifs are each etched with a repeating pattern so they can be mounted in a series to produce an endless landscape.
