S19
Chairs from De Machinekamer Galvanitas
Product description
The Galvanitas S19 chair is very similar to its brother the S16. Both had their origins in the classroom. Where the S16 is still loose and has a back panel, the S19 has been replaced by a completely wooden shell. Originally made from PAG wood but now embellished with an elegant walnut or oak shell. This gives the S19 a natural look and fits perfectly into the contemporary interior.
The chair was designed and produced by Galvanitas in Oosterhout in the late 1950s and early 1960s. They opted for a design with the typical compass legs. Instead of the usual tubular construction, the designer opted for a frame made of pressed sheet steel. A very solid and at the same time revolutionary design for that time.
The S19 was and is specifically intended for intensive use in public buildings, such as schools, institutions and canteens. Galvanitas is (still) known for its quality and reliability. Where some people experience the S16 as static, the S19 makes short work of it. Because the cockpit consists of a whole, it springs a little with it, which increases the seating comfort.
The Machinekamer offers you, in collaboration with Galvanitas, the unique opportunity to order brand new S19 seats. Furniture from the original factory and made with the original product molds. All newly manufactured parts are completely identical. The only concession - the frame is now welded instead of soldered - benefits the environment. The frame is available in different colors. This way you give your own twist to this famous classic.
The Galvanitas S19 is available in 8 standard powder-coated colors. For the seat and the backrest you can choose from black, white or four different colors of transparent shades.
