Concept
An imaginary forest of luxuriant vegetation inhabited by dragonflies, geckos, frogs and scorpions is depicted in assertive graphic strokes. The bright monochrome variants recall Far Eastern papiers decoupés (the art of folding and cutting paper to create decorations for walls, doors, windows and lanterns) and the papiers gouaches découpés realized by French artist Henri Matisse in the 40’s.
The traditional screen printing technique has been used to transfer the design to a textural ground of cotton and jute, in 5 variants.
