Gispen 412-GE

Armchairs from Dutch Originals, Designed by Wilhelm H. Gispen

Product description

Concept

Sprung-steel armchair without back legs. Two-piece frame of hand-shaped, chromed steel tubing. Fixed padded back covering and Bakelite armrests. With the exception of the covering on the high back, the Gispen 412-GE shown opposite is identical to the authentic Gispen 412. The version of the original chair with the padded back covered in Manchester rib cord cotton fabric was in production for just seven years, from 1948 to 1955. It was withdrawn in the year that W.H. Gispen was honoured with an exhibition of his work at the Municipal Museum in The Hague to mark his 65th birthday. After 1955, the original stuffed backrest with vertical stitching was reintroduced.
