Tortoise | Table light
Bowls from Edition Nikolas Kerl, Designed by Nikolas Kerl
Product description
Concept
Japanese Raku in perfection. Tortoise a light object with a mystic atmosphere.
Following the Japanese process of Raku, this clay object is buried in sawdust concluding the second round of firing. The wood shavings thus burn in a vacuum, wherein carbon particles bind with the surface of the clay and lend it a dark, metallic sheen. The simplistic, shell-like form of the lighting object emphasizes the mysterious, fascinating character of the object resulting from this process. A cursory glance is not sufficient to recognize the material.
Material: Clear glass hand-blown bowl
Dimensions: 6.5 x 11 inch
Produced in: Zurich CH
