Air 80

AIR is the name of the new collection of saunas designed by Talocci Design for Effegibi. The design departs from the lay-out of the classic sauna with two innovate features. Firstly, the basic elements, the benches and platform, are raised, making it possible to place the sauna on existing flooring, and secondly, the central position of the heater. In an AIR sauna the heater becomes the focus of the environment with the benches arranged around it, a contemporary interpretation of the original Scandinavian tradition.
The plane of the benches cuts across the ample glass front made entirely of 8mm toughened glass, and the benches project outward to form a handy shelf and towel rail.
There are three basic versions of AIR, designed for spaces of different sizes and for a different number of users. The smaller version (cm217x162) and the medium version (cm 247 x 182) have two spacious benches opposite one another, connected by a raised platform that supports the heater fitted to the back wall. These model can be supplied as niche or peninsula design, with only the front wall in glass, or as corner version with the option of a side wall also in glass.
The optional single-seater foot and back rests allow the benches to be used as either upright seats or recliners, offering greater flexibility in use.
The larger version, 283×252cm, features a continuous bench running along three sides of the sauna. In this version the heater is placed right in the middle of the raised platform connecting all three benches. The central position of the heater recreates the delightful sensation of being gathered around fire or a hearth.
The way the space is organised, with the central heat source, recalls the ancient tradition of the Finnish sauna, often built right in the heart of the village as the favourite meeting place of the local community.
The AIR collection is a modern, functional re-visitation of the convivial sauna experience and, just as in all Effegibi products, the designers take great care to pay homage to the traditions associated with the beneficial effects of heat in all its forms.
The environment is made even more special, designed to make it both open and cosy, by the LED lighting fitted below the benches, creating a uniquely light and airy feel. Each version of the AIR collection can be built in natural or darker, heat-treated aspen wood, with personalised touches on request.
