Concept

KELLY is a contemporary street furniture collection designed in "Slimconcrete" (UHPC) for Escofet by Marc Aurel. The range consists of a seat, a bench and a chair, all with highly refined, modern form.
In the designer’s words: “When I first visited Escofet, I discovered a universe of fabulous shapes displayed in concrete, a great heritage of pavements that are instantly identifiable and unique in a number of cities. From the very beginning of our partnership, the goal was clear: to design contemporary objects that evoke this vast experience and tradition of the Escofet brand. With Kelly, my goal has been to solve the dilemma I posed in my first visit to Escofet: Why should street furniture always be hopelessly plain?”

We’ve worked with the textures, to take on the appearance of armchairs and sofas, rather than that of typical street furniture benches.I have tried to conceptualise urban elements that connect users with the immediate environment, arousing their curiosity to look beyond the object and perceive it as something beautiful, yet familiar and intimate.
The result is a collection of elements that enables a different approach to street furniture and a unique integration of these elements to enhance public space.
I believe that new techniques, such as Escofet’s pioneering work in liquid stone (UHPC), allow designers to address the urban space in a completely new light, where the boundaries of inside and outside merge.”
