Concept
LEVIT is presented as a stone slab that seems to levitate in public spaces, particularly in areas where the pavement is pre-eminent. Its stainless steel props become blurred with the ground, to the point where they simulate their disappearance to leave the heavy slab in a weightless situation. Designed for Escofet by architect Jaume Artigues, originally in short modules of polished limestone, LEVIT is now built in single 4 metre long sections. The linear addition of more modules permits indefinite lengths. The slender sheet steel props, anchored beneath the paving thickness with expansion bolts, lighten its appearance. The contribution of this paving is required to prevent the props from bending.
