Concept
Inspired by the shapes of the perimeter bank designed by Antoni Gaudí and Josep Maria Jujol for Güell Park in Barcelona, this bench makes the most of all the latent combinatory and spatial potential of the original design. There are three versions of the bench: STRAIGHT MODULAR or linear version, its ergonomic outline turns its combination with others into an extremely comfortable long bench. CONCAVE MODULAR, which together with the CONVEX MODULAR, permits additive modules thanks to its curvature to form highly artistic sine wave alignments that define a perfect boundary between entrance areas and green zones, outlining corners, enclosing vegetated areas, surrounding trees, etc. The MODULAR bench acts as a separator or embankment for plant zones, and its volume makes it an insurmountable barrier with profoundly attractive aesthetics at the same time. Its organic profile also ensures great comfort, making this bench, designed for Escofet in 1976 by architects Ramón Benedito and Josep Lluscà, a veritable classic in the output of street furniture throughout the world.
