Concept
NET is a cast stone product with a dual purpose: litterbin and ashtray. It is preferably produced in three different colours, white, grey and black. Its characteristic form facilitates its natural integration into any setting, where it helps to shape a neutral, inhabitable environment. As a litterbin, NET includes a recessed telescopic ring system to attach the litter collection bags, providing easy, maintenance-free handling. NET can be turned into an ashtray by filling the interior volume with sand to a height that passers-by to extinguish their cigarettes and drop the ash in the bucket. NET was designed in 2005 by designer Diego Fortunato in conjunction with Escofet as a compliment for the previously produced SIT bench design. NET is based on the idea of soft street furniture, with rounded sides and no identification with any historic period. It is a paradigm for a more central approach to cast stone objects.
