Concept
Alissia Melka-Teichroew’s table linen and dishtowels originated with a thought about boundaries. As she says, “We draw lines and perceive them as boundaries even though there is nothing physically stopping us from crossing them.”
The designer began experimenting with masking tape, creating networks of patterns. In tablecloth and napkins of Taped Linens, Melka-Teichroew superimposes the shape of tape pieces with their “jagged, imprecise” edges over the traditional checked patterns of woven damask. The result is at once elegant and edgy.
