Pindus mountain range, with a maximum elevation of 2,637 m (Mount Smolikas), was the birthplace of Assinis Fantasia which consists of metamorphic rocks and volcanic rocks. Pindus serves as the headstream of Aheros River and the home to Oak trees, fir, beech and pine trees! Thessaly was home to extensive Neolithic and Chalcolithic cultures around 6000–2500 BC. Thessaly occupies the east side of the Pindus watershed, extending south from Macedonia to the Aegean Sea. Before the Greek Dark Ages, Thessaly was known
as Aeolia, and appears thus in Homer's Odyssey.
