Product description

This precious stone may be found inside volcanic rocks or certain metamorphic rocks and is formed in an hydro-thermal environment in volcanic rocks with little silicic acid. Like a lot of varieties of Agate, Ocean Grass presents a lot of parallel lines that recall the movement of the algae. Grey, brown and beige are the main colors of this antique stone. Agate was given its name by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and naturalist, who discovered the stone along the shore line of the river Achates in presentday Sicily, sometime between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC.
