CORPO’s distinguishing feature is its backrest of woven elastic bands. The chair’s clear- cut design, both convincingly minimalist and of reserved elegance, bears the typical signature of designer Burkhard Vogtherr. The point-elastic weave of bands of the backrest provides the user’s back with extensive and comfortable support.
Buetzberg, October 2010. – The Swiss furniture manufacturer Girsberger presents CORPO, a new range of chairs designed by Burkhard Vogtherr. The backrest, with its weave of elastic bands, catches the eye and gives the chair its unmistakable look and an air of slim exclusiveness.
CORPO by designer Burkhard Vogtherr is manufactured and exclusively sold by Girsberger in Europe, under license from Davis, USA. In 2008, the chair’s clear-cut design received a Red Dot Design Award in the product design category. The design, which is convincingly minimalist and of reserved elegance, bears the typical signature of designer Burkhard Vogtherr.
“I always try to achieve comfort by simple and intelligent means,” says Vogtherr. “That is how I got the idea of this flexible weave of bands. I also like its artisan touch. It gives CORPO value and character.”
In spite of its unpretentious and lightweight look, CORPO offers highest comfort and a row of ergonomic functions. The point-elastic weave of bands provides the user’s back with extensive and comfortable support. The highest possible comfort is provided by the self-regulating synchronous mechanism which automatically adjusts its counterpressure to the weight of the chair’s user. Thanks to a sliding seat, two backrest heights, several armrest versions and an optional headrest, CORPO can be equipped to suit the needs of its user perfectly.
CORPO is an ideal chair for upper-class conference rooms: a cantilever chair and a skid-frame chair, both of which match the swivel chair, are available for visitor and conference seating. All CORPO models can alternatively be ordered with a backrest of stretched mesh, or one which is upholstered in the same material as the chair’s seat.
