The painter, draughtsman and engraver known as the decorator of French rococo is famous for his mythological, allegorical and lascivious motifs. As court painter to Louis XV, he was also the favourite of the Marquise de Pompadour. Boucher mainly painted for noble customers, which is why his paintings can still be found all over Europe today.
The most famous of his students were Jean-Honoré Fragonard and Jacques-Louis David.
