Grounded 9 | Ergonomic Collaborative Group Project Table with Footplate

Our objective with Grounded, is to improve informal interactions for people during project work, in a sit, perch and/or stand position.
The concept of Grounded is inspired by our in-depth research into the postures assumed when small groups assemble informally while working, learning, connecting. We were struck by how inappropriate seating solutions caused awkward interactions and how ill-conceived tables created unsatisfactory solutions.

Grounded provides a standing height working surface with a deep Foot-plate, to enable adequate, comfortable and highly ergonomic grounding for the users’ feet, so they feel completely natural and comfortable, when sitting up in a higher position. This enables co-workers to remain standing at the same table, without breaking the eye-lines during collaborative efforts. It also makes the act of moving and standing much more accessible.

With a direction towards a cosy and ergonomic feel, we designed the Grounded table series to feel like home. To do this, we selected natural woods with shapes to serve both form and function. Functionally, the legs and makeup of the table resembles scaffolding but form wise, it displays spacious and natural qualities. The table is both strong and light in aesthetic.

We chose soft touch finishes to make the user's experience more comfortable and familiar. By using matte finishing and Forbo linoleum, the table is smooth and soft. We chose to incorporate carpet materials in the foot-plate as this would be familiar and add a warmth to the style. Rounded, high finish edging gives the collection a soft and complete look while giving everyone equal opportunity around the table.

The sizing of the tables was purely based around function. Grounded 6 though to Grounded Pill 24 can cater to all spaces and functions and can fit 2-10 people comfortably.

Technology meets design in the range of GreyFox and AirCharge® finishes. We match bespoke textures and materials to provide a seamless surface or subsurface integration into any desk or tabletop for a premium finish and enhanced aesthetic. We also integrate all battery and charger storage and wires into our sleek designs to create tidy, smooth surfaces and spaces.

Maintain eye-level communication and improve comprehension, flow and participation within small groups. Sitting at a low level often hinders your ability to move frequently and with fluidity. In addition, most ‘high-sitting’ furniture does not provide adequate foot support for comfortable, multi-postural sitting or standing positions.

Our foot-plate means you will not be searching for that ‘grounded’ feeling, when sitting higher. Now you can choose to sit, perch or stand, in comfort and without breaking eye level communication. This increases the frequency of full-body, high-quality movement while using the furniture.
