Kangourou Side table
Side tables from GUBI, Designed by Mathieu Mategot
Product description
The Kangourou side table was designed in 1954 by Mathieu Matégot. Mathieu Matégot’s organic forms and lightness of touch in his designs create a sense of joy. At the same time he used groundbreaking and innovative techniques. This resulted in complete unique aesthetic and, above all, contemporary designs. Matégot was the first person to combine metal tubing with perforated sheet metal – “rigitulle”, a pairing that characterises his work.
Shadows also play a key role in Matégot’s designs. The Kangourou side table, for example, consists of two small tables, the smaller one sitting within the larger. When the tables are displayed together as one unit, light passes through, reflecting half-moon shadows onto the floor below, when standing separately, two full moons are reflected.
