Concept

Shiomi has been making Kyo-uchiwa (Kyoto style fans) since 1944. Using natural materials such as washi and bamboo, Shiomi creates fans that have a graceful and delicate breeze. With the Formel studio, the softness and transparency of washi paper allows for the creation of a functional yet light fixture; inspired by the folds obtained from the washi sheet.
