Cast from resin, the individual pieces that make up Stupa are joined and hand finished individually on a lathe, then polished with beeswax. This combination of a mass production process with a high value hand skilled element makes for wonderful and interesting lighting; in this instance, the result is a lamp that permeates an ambient glowing warmth while still providing a practical light level. Designed by Freshwest, the form was inspired by temple architecture in Asia, particularly the stupas of Myanmar.
Stupa has been awarded the Good Design Award 2015 by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
