Concrete Genezis
Bags from IVANKA
Product description
Concept
IVANKA proudly announced the world's first 'concrete' ready-to-wear and accessories collection unveiling the result of two years development while the first experiments of joyful creation – Cement Couture conceptual handmade pieces personally made by the founders of the brand (Katalin Ivanka and Andras Ivanka) for their own portrait shoot for Vodafone lifestyle magazine – evolved to laying the professional foundation of their new division.
The ’CONCRETE GENEZIS’ named capsule colletion debuted at Tranoï during Paris Fashion Week in September 2012 as their very first ready-to-wear and accessories collection named The striking pieces of wearables, bags and jewelries are progressive in design yet totally wearable and designed for everyday use. The SS13 collection has received a warm welcome and a widespread interest from both the buyers and the press (the likes of W magazine).
IVANKA has developed a new textile-innovation based on the aesthetic qualities of concrete: using 3D graphical prints with cement components applied on textile, they have created a clothing collection that draws a line from a raw masculine look to finer classic femininity. Visualizing today’s modern urban woman and building on the dualism of her fragility and power that can be found in all women, the goal is to illustrate that delicate contrast and cross-gender phenomena through different shapes and materials, such as the contrast between hard concrete and soft textiles or classical forms in modern context.
The clothes are complemented with a capsule collection of clutch bags where real high performance concrete meets leather: beginning with a simply geometric rectangular model - the 'archetype' of a block of concrete - made almost entirely out of monolith concrete, the evolution of the collection explores the effects produced by alternating the ratio between concrete and leather.
