Shades [prototype]

Dim-out blinds from Martin Born, Designed by Martin Born

Product description

Concept

Curtain system for the modulation of direct and indirect daylight exposure.

By means of a tension mechanism, modularly grouped textile surfaces are bent so that direct light can be completely shut out. In this "closed" state, light enters the interior only by way of reflection on the curtain textiles. This leads to a dimmed illumination, soft and rich in nuances.

Shades is conceived for the use in architectures with intense exposure to daylight. Depending on whether toning down a whole room or creating zones of visual placidity is desired, modules can be applied along the full or a partial span of a window front. Placements in public spaces (foyers, lounges, reception or presentation halls) attain to yet another spectacular dimension, as beside the exhilarating illumination an imposing rendering of the changes in daylight and the impressive light space within the curtain become discernible.

The curtain is operated electrically as a whole or per individual module. The sensor controlled operation in function of light or weather conditions is possible.

Module size (W x D) 2,00 x 1,20 m (6.6 x 3.9'), height variable
