Materia Paglia Scuro
Upholstery fabrics from Molteni & C, Designed by Marta Ferri
Product description
Concept
Making her debut in the world of furnishings, Marta Ferri is the talented young Italian couturier behind Molteni&C’s textile research and the author of the 2016 “Materia” collection. Born into an artistic family, Marta conveys a wealth of atmosphere, textile and color combinations as well as the attention to detail that stems from her cultural background.
This year she is in charge of Molteni&C’s textile image, thanks to her careful recovery and research work into the archives of the greatest Italian textile manufacturers. The result is her “Materia”, collection featuring three new textile designs, inspired by the world of Nature: Foliage (suggested by tropical plants) and Roots (inspired by the roots of age-old trees), plus a more sophisticated textile interpretation of Viennese cane seating in Paglia. Three digital prints with a refined design, which reflect her attentive interpretation of Molteni&C’s world and quality in terms of textiles, with a clear reference to the Como silk printing tradition.
Her research is reflected in her accurate choice of materials and chromatic effects, the result of a broad use of intense color and of material as the center of visual space, an enlivening and balanced link between nature and product. Alongside her patterns, Marta also presents four proposals in the world of velvets, reinterpreted with modern and unusual shades, chenilles with a distinctive “worn” effect, raw linens, and lastly a new leather, featuring natural tanning with a hide effect, which combines the shine of traditional leather with the softness of the classic analine leathers. The new textiles will be showcased at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, where they will be teamed with the new chair and sofa designs created by Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni and Vincent Van Duysen.
