Apulo is the sofa designed by the Formafastasma duo – Simone Farresin and Andrea Trimarchi – for the new Natuzzi Italia collection: a project which, based on a careful reflection on the changing requirements of contemporary living, responds to the growing need to reconcile functionality and continuity in the domestic arena. In fact, nowadays the places where we work and enjoy our free time are more often than not one and the same, the focal point of a new normal where organisation has become a priority if we are to live peacefully with ourselves and the things around us.
In this sense, the Apulo home/office sofa is another step along the path to achieving a sophisticated form of versatility that is tasked with combining multifunctionality, comfort and design. A delicate balance that can no longer be improvised but which must have its own precise boundaries and involve in-depth multidisciplinary research: the research on which the approach of the designers is based.
In fact, the sofa takes on new functions and is also designed to accommodate small objects to meet the most sophisticated home office requirements: a wooden desk to attach to the back of the frame – providing a work surface – and a height-adjustable side table that provides additional functionality and offers another surface. The design research is also underlined by the presence of a raceway built into the structure of the sofa which makes it possible to seamlessly integrate laptop cables into the aesthetic of the sofa.
Whether in the linear three-seater version or the configuration including chaise longue, Apulo is a pure and simple presence thanks to its precious saddle leather shell, which defines its lines, and its metal feet, which emphasise its lightness.
