A thickly plush shag texture softens the angular designs on this Scandinavian rug. Cool blues, purples and greens in light and dark tones form the decorations, centered with a tilted white square filled with stylized fish. The colorful school swims to one side, surrounded by a quilt-like pattern of stylized nets and kelp, complete with oceanic wildlife such as starfish, urchins and jellyfish. Alongside the fish in the middle, a sailboat is rendered with its reflection on a clear ocean. The light shades comprising the center in this vintage Swedish Rya rug deepen outward to dark indigo hues along the edges. Jagged bands of dark green, like kelp beds underwater, accent the top and bottom of this vintage rug, adding a final touch to the watery scene.
