True to many beautiful Scandinavian rugs, this beautiful postmodern vintage rug uses the presence of shapes and colors to define the atmosphere within. A single black jagged line runs through the center of the Swedish Kilim from the top to the bottom. Even the diagonal lines are angular in this figure, creating a rigid dynamic that grounds the other colors and elements within. The surrounding beige background provides contrast to the zig-zagging black line at the foreground, and at irregular sections around the jags, viewers can see bright depictions of other colors. Blueish green, gentle yellow and bright red are all present in solid and striped formations. These elements serve to establish points of interest throughout the piece by adding color the palette and activity to the otherwise simple presentation of the foreground and background.
