Here is a fascinating and truly interesting vintage rug - a vintage double-sided Swedish kilim that was woven in Scandinavia during the middle years of the twentieth century. Double-sided, this charming Swedish kilim features mirroring designs of bright red and soft orange hues, with a lovely pattern of shapes running vertically through the center. The vintage Swedish kilim is bordered at the top and the bottom by horizontal bands of red stripes; there are no borders along the vertical sides of the piece. Within, a procession of rounded figures runs down the center; these are decorated in such a way that the carpet has a horizontal symmetry. Extending outward from each of these rounded figures is a long horizontal line, which terminates at either and with a four pronged, rectilinear shape. In between each of the horizontal sections that are created by these lines is a jumble of small figure, roughly shaped like footballs. The overall effect is one of whimsy and delight. An exciting piece, this vintage Swedish kilim is an exceptional example.
