Vintage Moroccan Kilim
Rugs from Nazmiyal Rugs
Product description
Here is a beautiful and intriguing vintage carpet – a vintage Moroccan rug that was woven during the middle years of the twentieth century. A fetching piece, this vintage kilim is characterized by a lovely design that represents some of the finest qualities of mid-century Moroccan weaving. A series of ivory and black horizontal bands appear near the top and bottom portions of the piece, while most of the space in between is occupied by an intriguing pattern that alternated between crisscrossing lines and a closely woven pattern of serrated lines. The color pallet of ivory and dark brown is common in mid-century Moroccan rugs and carpets, but this particular example has effectively reversed what is the dominant manner of presenting this pallet: while many Moroccan rugs are primarily ivory with brown detail work, this example is primarily brown, with ivory showing up in interesting locations throughout. An exciting and unique work, this mid-century Moroccan kilim is a delightful example.
