Vintage “Quadrat” Verner Panton Textile in Tan
Rugs from Nazmiyal Rugs, Designed by Verner Panton
Product description
This textile designed by influential Dutch designer Verner Panton features the familiar composition of a quilt refreshed by a modern, minimalist aesthetic. One of Panton’s “Quadrat (Square)” designs, this textile is composed of gradient squares in shades of brown that range from a pale sandy tan to a rich chocolatey chestnut. Squares are arranged so that squares with the darkest shade on the border and squares with the lightest shade on the border alternate. These high contrast juxtapositions situate squares that are like photo negatives of each other side-by-side. The mid-range gradation of shades in the center of each square adds softness to this geometric composition and also gives an illusion of height and depth, like pyramids and tunnels that protrude and recede in space.
