This charming and impeccably composed vintage carpet from Sweden features prominent quatrefoils enclosing a subtly striped cocoa brown field decorated with a colorful series of constellated asteroids comprised of right-angle motifs and checkers. These constellated hypocycloids comprised of inset checkers dot the field and infringe on the formal borders. Main borders comprised of alternating rosy pink and celadon quadrants filled with rectilinear floral motifs make a grand impression against the subtly striped field. The delicate quatrefoils featured in the borders are rendered in a chic combination of rosy pink, white, gray, cocoa brown and celadon, which complements the delicate colors used within the stark and carefully decorated field. Equally formal and whimsical, this dainty vintage kilim created in Sweden circa 1950 features a variety of soft colors and floral motifs rendered in alternating hues that create an alluring repeating pattern.
