Hyg Barstool 65

Inspired by Danish hygge, designer Simon Legald has created the Hyg furniture series. When the series was introduced in 2018, it consisted of a 2-seater sofa, lounge chairs and a footstool. Now the range expands with a chair and barstool that share the characteristics of the lounge series: the hearty, organic curves designed with a focus on sublime comfort.

Designed to provide support according to body contours, the Hyg chair places itself somewhere between chair and armchair with a shape that gently embraces you while allowing for freedom of movement. The same careful intent is carried on in the Hyg barstool, which offers excellent comfort and stability with its semi-low back, generous seat width, and sturdy base with footrest. The sensuously curved outline conveys a feeling of joy and well-being, making the Hyg barstool a pleasant alternative to streamlined barstools.

Manufactured with hard use purposes in mind, the Hyg chair and Hyg barstool can withstand the rigors of usage in high traffic areas. Chair bases in steel or aluminum provide a hard-wearing yet elegant foundation for the organically shaped shell seats, made from high-strength virgin polypropylene that will keep its strength and appearance for years to come. Eventually the polypropylene can be separated from the base and recycled in its pure form. The shell seats are manufactured using the highest level of industrial expertise, resulting in a fine, matte and homogenous surface.

Both chair and barstool are available with front upholstery or full upholstery, adding texture and enhanced comfort to the design. The upholstering is undertaken by highly skilled upholsterers with the same care and expertise that apply to the series’ lounge furniture. Hyg is crafted with textiles certified to the EU Ecolabel and high-quality natural leather made without the use of PCP or CFC.
