They can have a natural surface if obtained from raw quarry slabs of different thicknesses and dimensions or a machined surface if they are sawn from blocks.

With a natural surface. They can have split ends or sawn sides. The former are obtained through a mechanical cutting and selecting the different thicknesses. The latter are obtained sawing the slabs and then calibrating the visible sides in order to obtain a more uniform thickness.

Machined surface These products, differently from the natural surface products, have a uniform thickness (a part from the semi-lucid); their surface is flamed, coated, rubbed or polished, according to the desired effect. The sawn sides can be treated with the same manufacturing of the surface and then possibly shaped with a bull nose edge or half bull nose edge.

General evaluation of the product. The natural surface products are more rustic and are advisable for external stairs, gardens and small walls, where the aspect is quite rustic and there are acceptable tolerances. The natural surface products, whose measures are modified with machines, can be effectively used outdoor installations highlighting the physical features of the material, without altering the original composition. The machined surface products are more refined and processed and are ideal for the most prestigious applications, both outdoor (for which the flamed version is recommended) and indoor (for which the coated, the lucid, the semi-lucid and the rubbed versions are recommended).
