Concept
In all probability, the Ice Cube model is the first door handle ever made in polished glass. It is obtained from a sheet of high-tech super-clear glass. As is typical to the visual language employed by Perrault, and thanks to his teamwork here with Lauriot-Prévost, we see a play of simplified volumes. Part of the inspiration came from the clamps used on construction sites to hold together different shapes and materials. The point of connection between the glass and the flap of the L-shaped metal shaft is resolved by means of structural adhesive. The attachment is so precise it required lengthy experimentation. Sometimes simple appearances conceal great complexity. Antonio Olivari
