Wire table
Side tables from Pastoe, Designed by Cees Braakman, Adriaan Dekker
Product description
The Pastoe Wire was designed in 1958 by Cees Braakman and Adriaan Dekker. After the Second World War, when construction materials were in short supply, steel wire proved to be a cheap, functional and strong means of making furniture. Living rooms tended to be small and the transparent furniture needed less space than traditional furniture. The Wire side table is available in two versions: one with a black frame with a walnut top and one with a white frame with an oak top.
Concept
The Pastoe Wire was designed in 1958 by Cees Braakman and Adriaan Dekker. After the Second World War, when construction materials were in short supply, steel wire proved to be a cheap, functional and strong means of making chairs. Living rooms tended to be small and the transparent chair needed less space than traditional furniture. The chairs were a great success and fashionable among young families, who considered them a modern, rebellious statement.
