Concept
The design of this new chair, appropriately named “Dragonfly”, was derived from observations made on the same insect, whose body is characterized by an imbalance in weight distribution between the front legs and its extended tail. The formal design evolved into a cantilevered seat with its legs nested at the front giving the impression that the chair is defying the force of gravity. The dynamic aspect of this chair has been enhanced through the introduction of vertical fins at the rear of the backrest that allude to the design elements present in the automotive world. The same shell has been joined to a variety of different bases building a family of chairs that will be able to respond to any functional requirements.
Dragonfly by Odo Fioravanti, the “dragonfly-seat”, with its rear legs tilt as ready to fly, that after winning in 2014 the Hospitality Design Product Award Excellence and in 2015 the Design of The Year-Design Museum London, get in 2016 the Born Awards 2016 in France and the Honorable Mention – XXIV Compasso d’Oro Award from ADI. At “Salone del Mobile” will present the new colours: yellow, beige, grey, renewing the appeal of a Chair that continues to surprise for its modernity.
