The ZEB Flexible lab solar facades ensures that the building comply to the ZEB-COM standard and can recoup sufficient electricity to offset the environmental investment in materials, construction and operational over the next 60 years. The freedom to panelize the facade made it easy to cover the complex building efficiently and the choice of black crystal finish facade makes the building sparkle and stand out even on rainy days.

According to LINK arkitektur, this impressive and forward thinking building (The BIPV facade for the ZEB Flexible Lab in Trondheim, Norway) will be the most sustainable building in the world, with documented climate accounts. Even during the construction period much of the construction power came directly from the solar plant and the solar power on the roof was therefore installed early in the construction phase and connected to the construction site´s power supply.
To satisfy the requirements as a ZEB-COM building, the CO2 emission from production of building materials, transport, construction site as well as construction and maintenance of the building over a period of 60 years, must be compensated for by energy production from the building itself. The solar facades panel system provides a custom ventilated facade with a resilient, durable and low-maintenance rainscreen that will pay for itself both financially and environmentally in just a few years.
If only all new buildings aimed for this, the world would be on a better path towards fulfilling our global Net-Zero and NZC commitments.
