Street Art in the Bathroom
These tiles are works of art. And that’s no exaggeration because GRAFFITI features elements of a work by the artists Ahmet Özcelik and Hannes Zundel. “A brilliant move by Steuler-Fliesen”, says Özcelik, “it’s really cool that they had the courage to create such a range.” A range with quite a special story of its origin. “We commissioned the two spray artists to design our brand name,” explains Head of Marketing, Stefan Grimmeisen, “in the form of classic colourful graffiti.”
Apart from this the artists were able to work freely. “We submitted several designs,” says Zundel, “and when the general direction had been decided on we got going with paints.” When the work was finished, Steuler played a role again. Three sections of the picture were selected. “It was important to pick out prominent elements where the layers of colour or effects showed up well,” explains Grimmeisen. These sections can now be seen on the tiles – in their original size of 33 x 80 cm no less. The tiles come in a set – a choice of loud, bright colours or more calming grey tones – and can be laid next to each other as often as desired to make different sized decorative surfaces. “It is brilliant to see our work in this way,” says Özcelik “and fantastic what Steuler has done with it.” Zundel adds: “Well, I would have them in my home!”
Grimmeisen is also convinced by the result: “The look is up-to-date, hip and fresh. It really comes into its own in the large format.” The basic tile in this range reproduces the surface of concrete – the most common surface for graffiti. The marketing expert and the artists agree: “It perfects the street art feeling.”
An interesting decorative variant is brickworks, a spin-off from the GRAFFITI basic tile. These are combined with each other in three sizes – and thus feature a concrete look in the style of a wall. The interplay of the various sizes gives an exciting effect. “brickworks creates the industrial chic of a loft,” says Grimmeisen, “and so gives a bathroom an urban flair.”
But whichever variant you choose: Graffiti is more than a tile. It is art.

Vision
Street Art for indoors: The GRAFFITI is sprayed on for an urban flair. The base tiles have a rough concrete look. The decor in the style of a sprayer. Loud and bright or in subtle grey tones. Just as hip: the accents of brickworks in the form of a wall. Bathrooms have rarely been this cool.
