Concept
A „Best Of“ the natural stones
In the segment of porcelain stoneware, Steuler-Fliesen is known for its highest design standards and top quality. The area of particularly hard and robust porcelain stoneware has so far been limited to floor tiles complementing the wall tiles programme. This is now being changed. Steuler-Fliesen is launching a porcelain stoneware initiative. „This is not a paradigm shift,“ explains Managing Director Peter Wilson. „Steuler-Fliesen stands for design – not for a particular material. And we have noticed that there is a real demand for porcelain stoneware in ‚Steuler look‘.“ The south German tile manufacturer wants to satisfy this demand with products of the gres|steuler brand.
Surpassing your own role models is not easy. But STONE COLLECTION actually manages to do this. How? By developing technically faultless, cleverly implemented „natural stone tiles“ that in addition to perfect stone optics also offer all the advantages of ceramic products. In practice this means: they score points with their natural colouring which, because it varies, allows variations on a theme. The STONE COLLECTION tiles come in a modern square format (75 x 75 cm) and are also very compelling as a decorative surface: narrow accent tiles in different widths allow the creation of staggered bands along walls. The collection comprises three designs: DORATO, PESINA and LIMESTONE.
„This selection is a sort of ‚The Best Of‘ natural stones“, explains Matthias Hansel. The reason: three of the most popular stones stood as models for the STONE COLLECTION series. „It was not a question of creating a surprise with innovative optics“, explains the Head of Domestic Sales, „but rather to optimally replicate the popular look of natural stones on the tiles. And I think we have succeeded in doing this very well.“
More than this: the STONE COLLECTION products not only make an authentic impression in visual and technical but also in haptic terms. „Expectations are not disappointed when the tiles are touched. Quite the contrary“, says Deinböck. The surfaces not only feel natural, they are also slip-free due to the R10 surfaces and can therefore be used in industrial areas.
DORATO: a breath of Lombardy
DORATO is based on a certain type of gneiss rock. A type that can only be found in one single valley in Lombardy. The respective dominating colour – a powerful anthracite, an elegant grey or a friendly beige – is interwoven with delicate, bright lines. The effect? Raw, charming, strong in character.

„DORATO is technically and visually exactly what the market wants. And in a great format too - square, not too small and not too big. Exactly right.“
Jürgen Wörsdörfer, Head of Sales, Germany
PESINA: diversity in grey
PESINA reflects the graphical variety of marl in an impressive way. Each of the 76 individual tiles of the series impresses with a unique colour gradient. Together, the grey and anthracite tones create a reduced yet individual and above all very elegant overall appearance.

„PESINA is a design highlight: the individual tiles vary considerably, but together they are absolutely harmonious and refined.“
Tomas Deinböck, Product Manager
LIMESTONE: warmth and elegance
LIMESTONE has a real Methusalem as a role model: the 140 to 160 million year-old and particularly fossil-rich Jurassic marble. The fine interplay of light and dark shades produces a varied, natural and original surface. And brings warmth and elegance to any room.
